Tell us more about the gorgeous Monty Gillykat . Do you go to visit him?
I went to meet him for the first time last Wednesday, 6th June, when he was just 14 days old. After losing Phoebe and Loki I was just SO guilty and ashamed of my own stupidity that I swore we would NEVER have any more animals. But that's just not me.....I feel lost without animals in my life so at first I thought get my chickens for the allotment and then Neil suggested a dog - ex-racer Greyhound as we both adore hounds. Only problem is my job....I'm really enjoying it now and it's nice, for the first time in years, to actually have a decent wage coming in from both of us. I looked up the possibility of dog sitters for the odd day I may be in all day (dog on her own for 3-4 hours is ok but I'd prefer not longer in case she made a noise and had the Welsh Witch downstairs complaining...which she does about the most trivial things) but Neil wasn't too happy about this He even said perhaps go part-time somewhere but I'm reluctant to do this in case the new job turns out to be awful Then ~ sneaky husband ~ tentatively mentioned cats!!! I said no way!!!! I'd let Phoebe and Loki down and didn't want to ever risk having another cat But Neil persevered and eventually wore me down so I made a few provisos....had to be a boy...preferably ginger....two kittens as opposed to adult....and permanently indoors! So, come pay day, Neil presented me with a phone number I rang up and arranged to go see the kittens the next day and paid for Monty there and then (his brother was spoken for already)
Monty and his brother are Happy Accidents as Mum was going to be spayed (and will be as soon as they're weaned!) and W. has sent me a few photos of him to my email but I didn't receive them. I was going to call her today anyway and see how he's doing (only intended to ring once a week or so as I don't want to be a pest) and she said he's growing so much! She'd sent some photos to my email but they hadn't got through for some reason) and was worried because I hadn't replied. I told her I'd ALWAYS reply. So she sent them to my FB via messanger and.....awwww he's gorgeous His brother is still spoken for unfortunately so we may have to look for another kitten as a companion.....Nil wants a tortie!

I have previousley owned 2 german spitz named Mitzi Moo and Phoebe my 2 little angelsxx gone but never forgotten xx
I have also owned a rescue Cat named Sindy - Sleep tight my beautiful girl.xx
Gillykat I know exactly what you mean, when we had visited Elsa for the first time I was just wanting to message her breeder all the time and hoping that she would send me some more pics 😊 I can remember our 2nd visit had to be postponed because of the bad snow ☹️I was just so disappointed. You will be surprised how quickly the time will fly by . I used to to mark the days off the calendar. Looking forward to more pics xx
I did - Neil sent me a text when I was on my way to see him saying ''Can we call him Clarkson?'' You can imagine my reply
But the reasoning behind his name....I love gardening (may have mentioned it once or twice on here ) so naming him after my favourite gardener was rather inevitable.....plus, one of my favourite authors is Derek Tangye and he hated cats at first. But his wife Jeannie, when she worked at the Savoy Hotel in the 40's and Derek worked for MI5, was a big cat lover and went out and got a 6 week old ginger kitten who was christened Monty (after General Montgomery in WW2). When Derek saw him he said you cannot keep him - I shall throw him off London Bridge into the Thames on our way home!!! But Jeannie got her way and Monty stayed and, as cats usually do, converted Derek to the charms of cats He wrote a book about him too - A Cat In The Window. In the late 40's Derek & Jeannie became fed up of the pointlessness of parties & celebrities and London life and upped sticks and moved to Cornwall where they rented a rundown cottage with no water, electricity, bathroom or loo and a few acres and started a new life with Monty growing daffodils and other flowers (first book in series called A Gull On The Roof). The books are the Minack Chronicles and are just a fabulous relaxing read....exactly the sort of thing I would do if I won the lottery
And yes, I cannot wait to get him home I'm SO pleased Neil talked me round and this wee boy will have THE most pampered spoilt life in existence!
Before he arrives though.....I'm babysitting a customer's cat for a week when she goes on holiday! Silly woman came into shop at the weekend and asked if I knew of any good catteries as they were going on holiday in two WEEKS (talk about cutting it fine to book up a decent place!) but as we've not had a holiday in nine years with looking after the oldies I said I didn't know any to actually recommend but I'd be happy to take her boy into our home for her My boss said ''What will Neil say?'' I said when it comes to cats (or any animal really) Neil loves them all and wouldn't mind at all. The wee boy (one year old today if I remember rightly) is from PARRT (I recommended them when she was after a cat last year) and is an indoor cat....and it's only for a week so he'll be ok.....and will give Neil and I a chance to have some feline cuddles
Here he is....1 year old last Wednesday ~ 13th June ~ and from PARRT. He's a sweetie and called Jace. He's explored the flat, had a pee in his tray, had some food and done a bit of birdwatching Now on bedroom window watching the spuggies in The Jungle opposite.....much tail lashing and chattering of teeth
Neil has screwed a wooden board over the catflap so no way can he get out.....and since the pics above were done he's also put chicken wire over the windows and stapled it tightly on. Means we can open windows if it gets hot but no way can pussycat get out.
He's settled in quite well - patrolled the whole flat and seems to enjoy having the freedom to go from room to room via the cat flaps we have in the kitchen, living room and bedroom door.....I can hear Neil talking to him next door as I type
Why all the cat flaps , not heard u say u got so many before
Our flat gets a bit draughty in the winter so in December I think it was Neil got some cheap £5 cat flaps and fitted them into the kitchen, living room and bedroom doors so the cats (we were fostering Olivia and Dexter when this was done) could go from room to room when they wanted....and the living room stayed warm! It works great....why didn't we think of it years ago?
