No problem cia she was born 29/4/1999, at least that's what we were told by the rescue who got it from her previous owner who had both her, her sister (who died of diabetes before they came into the rescue) & Osiris (much younger) from kittens.
SO sorry to hear about darling Penny ((((((BIG HUGS)))))) Tears are good though and there's certainly no shame in having a wee cry over our precious babies....in fact I've always cried more over losing my animals than any human Probably because animals give you uncomplicated pure love
I think you made the right decision (I've had a couple of pensioners with kidney & thyroid issues) and to let our babies pass peacefully, quickly and with dignity is the one thing we always do right. I'm sure Penny will have LOVED her time with you and completely put the past behind her
Thanks @domino, luckily Penny's past wasn't bad as she came, with Osiris, from a home where the owner had to go into care. The only sad part was that apparently as a kitten she was thrown over a security fence into the path of a guard dog. As she lived with her sister then I assume that the 2 sisters (& maybe more) were rescued & both homed with Penny's previous owner. She wasn't left with any fear of dogs (or anything!) so was probably too young to have been aware of the cruelty.
Happy days with Roman, Osiris & Lexie (remembering Chloe & Penny)
So very sorry to see this tonib,I hate to hear of people losing a pet as it's so devastating. It's good she had a peaceful end though, that's all we can hope for when the inevitable has to happen. As you say, they leave us with beautiful happy memories,so we are thankful for that.
Just got to decide where to bury her ashes & what to plant over her. We've decided on something that will attract butterflies & moths as she loved to catch them, & bring them in oh so carefully. A buddleia would be ideal but we already have plenty of them so I'd like any more ideas ( @domino, lotsofcats, bectil or anyone). In particular if they are not a big shrub as we seem to have our fill of those
Oh cia, I did a double check & Penny's birthday was 26th April 1999 not 29th - not sure where I got that from!!! Sorry for the confusion.
Penny is back where she belongs. I wonder if you could get a miniature buddleia that you could pot up and put on the patio. It would be like a having Penny at the back door with her butterflies in tow. Failing that a Lilac bush is a gorgeous plant.
The 26th of the month has been noted Toni.
You cant just be given an Oscar, you have to truly earn one.
Thank you puddycats, she only came to us when she was nearly 9 so was only with us for just over 8 years but like all the cats she found her own place in our hearts & yes she was a pretty cat, although sweet wasn't the description I would use about her some of the time, a right little madam would be a polite phrase when she needed claws cutting or medicines given. She certainly knew how to use her claws despite arthritis & could put what few teeth she had left or her hard gums were put to good use on occasion!
heartpawprints what a lovely thought I can just picture her grinning from ear to ear as you decsribe what she would consider her just right
I am sorry tonib I don't know what possessed me to put that. I did know that she was around 9 when you got Penny. I do apologise. But there again as I said before she could not have wanted for a better home.
tonib: Sounds like it was a good job we didn't have Roman as a kitten then. He's never misbehaved like that, only his first Xmas with us when he half-inched the stuffing! - I hope that's not famous last words!

tonib: Lexie is another matter but usually not breakables - except potentially of herself when she fell behind the large display cabinet/sideboard on being left alone for the 1st time in our dining room aged 2.5 years!!!

tonib: She jumped on top (via the table I believe) & managed to fall between it & the wall & appeared to be suspended by her head part way down (the gap narrowed!) I had to get a burly neighbour in to help move it, quickly moving weight/breakables as pos. 1st

tonib: She was fine but got checked by vet just in case! That was a heart stopping time, especially her cries!

lotsofcats: I can remember when that happened with Lexi.
