Due the length of Bella's fur I'm having trouble keeping it knot free, she's combed out once a week using a Furminator which was great for Molly but with Bella it's not reaching all the knotty bits getting really frustrated and poor Bella's getting stressed, any recommendations for good grooming combs for long haired kitty's x
Sorry molly9 I've only had experience of short-hairs like you we also have the Furminator (2 sizes - 1 for Lexie & the other for Roman & Osiris). Perhaps gradually teasing out the tangles with your fingers initially & then more frequent grooming with a brush to stop the tangles forming. You could still use the furminator but maybe not daily as it does strip out some of the undercoat. I note that they don't just have sizes dependent on the cat but also long & short-hair versions.
I know exactly what you are going through, I have 5 long-haired kitties. This time of the year is the worst time as they are all moulting and 4 of them are so knotted, Blackberry being the most knotted. I brush them every day and try to cut away the knots a bit at a time.
Thank you for the advice I already have the long haired Furminator but will be definitely getting one of the rubber mittens as suggested in the attachment tonib think Bella would like that don't like the idea of using the Furminator every day so the mitten sounds just the thing hopefully using that everyday and the Furminator once a week will help Xx it's not easy having these long haired beauties lotsofcats Xx
Hoping to hear from you soon! Jenny I'm not sure but I think my cat is sick with a little form of skin cancer. Oh that is all I need to really complete me . He's been with me for 15 years now. It doesn't seem to be very sick I know it sounds crazy because he's eating well and purring. i'm going to bring him to the vet I think it's a little tumor or something like that.

caz2golden: Last night Phoebe walked into the hedgehog down garden path, quite amusing watching dog jump sideways and give it a good sniff and then carry on her way for the loo. I love hedgehogs. Left some peanuts (for birds) out for it but it went back into border.
