Due the length of Bella's fur I'm having trouble keeping it knot free, she's combed out once a week using a Furminator which was great for Molly but with Bella it's not reaching all the knotty bits getting really frustrated and poor Bella's getting stressed, any recommendations for good grooming combs for long haired kitty's x
Sorry molly9 I've only had experience of short-hairs like you we also have the Furminator (2 sizes - 1 for Lexie & the other for Roman & Osiris). Perhaps gradually teasing out the tangles with your fingers initially & then more frequent grooming with a brush to stop the tangles forming. You could still use the furminator but maybe not daily as it does strip out some of the undercoat. I note that they don't just have sizes dependent on the cat but also long & short-hair versions.
I know exactly what you are going through, I have 5 long-haired kitties. This time of the year is the worst time as they are all moulting and 4 of them are so knotted, Blackberry being the most knotted. I brush them every day and try to cut away the knots a bit at a time.
Thank you for the advice I already have the long haired Furminator but will be definitely getting one of the rubber mittens as suggested in the attachment tonib think Bella would like that don't like the idea of using the Furminator every day so the mitten sounds just the thing hopefully using that everyday and the Furminator once a week will help Xx it's not easy having these long haired beauties lotsofcats Xx
Hoping to hear from you soon! Jenny I'm not sure but I think my cat is sick with a little form of skin cancer. Oh that is all I need to really complete me . He's been with me for 15 years now. It doesn't seem to be very sick I know it sounds crazy because he's eating well and purring. i'm going to bring him to the vet I think it's a little tumor or something like that.
Hi Jenny, well OK say that I’m feeling well right now although I really wish I could. Is a definite yes my cat is dying. He has cancer of the digestive track. I have done all I could do I have brought him to the vet many times, but as the vet explained to me, there’s nothing that Will really change whether he eats or not, he will not put on any weight. So here he is the sweetest can be still purs, be is being very antisocial. I think it’s their way of letting you know I’m dying but I don’t want to dye in the of you. This is really killing me. I’m taking this very hard. I can’t do anything to help him, and on top of that I hurt so bad with that sciatic nerve I just don’t know what to do with myself. My appointment is not until April 24 to see the neurosurgeon. It just can’t come fast enough. Jenny I’m sorry I’m being so gloomy but this was going on. I’m really a very factual type of person , so forgive before that. Please pass this on to Pauline (Scally wag). You have all been so supportive and very kind. I sincerely appreciate this. Take good care,

caz2golden: Sorry not on much my PC is sending me around the bend every time I use mouse it double clicks when I only single clicked! Part of me is hoping it is a windows issue that will get updated rather than just PC getting old and broken!

alfiemummy: It's most likely your mouse that needs replacing Caz - that's happened to me twice now and both times it's been fixed by getting a new mouse

tonib: Sounds like it was a good job we didn't have Roman as a kitten then. He's never misbehaved like that, only his first Xmas with us when he half-inched the stuffing! - I hope that's not famous last words!

tonib: Lexie is another matter but usually not breakables - except potentially of herself when she fell behind the large display cabinet/sideboard on being left alone for the 1st time in our dining room aged 2.5 years!!!

tonib: She jumped on top (via the table I believe) & managed to fall between it & the wall & appeared to be suspended by her head part way down (the gap narrowed!) I had to get a burly neighbour in to help move it, quickly moving weight/breakables as pos. 1st

tonib: She was fine but got checked by vet just in case! That was a heart stopping time, especially her cries!

lotsofcats: I can remember when that happened with Lexi.
