Over the years I have tried a number of products such as CSJ seaweed and parsley and plaque off to help dogs teeth.
Found the CSJ product though effective initially long term perhaps effects waned! I found the plaque off worked but as I also used other products that contained other kinds of seaweed (be it finer by natures dog greens, Dorwests kelp or Dorwests keepers mix) I stopped using it as I did not want to be giving too much seaweed type products at once (can overdue a good thing ).
I have up until recently given dog greens (contains Spirulina, Chlorella, Wheatgrass, Barleygrass and Kelp) but have now run out and as I am now trying some of the individual components of the supplement separately. I have no intention of getting any more in from supplier soon as I want to use up the Spirulina (not even opened yet), Chlorella and Wheatgrass I have.
I have just noticed Phoebes teeth are not so clean as they have been! I guessing therefore that the dog greens I was giving was helping teeth (even though they might only be getting it once or twice a week).
So question is what seaweed based products do you think are best for helping keeping good oral hygiene and help skin (allergies)?
Alfie gets dried seaweed mixed in with his home-cooked diet, I think it's for the iodine. I can't say I have noticed any improvements to his teeth, infact they've got worse since being on home-cooked but I kind of expected that going from a mostly dry diet to a much softer one, and he doesn't get anywhere as many chews like pizzle, tripe sticks etc as he used to. His treats now are mostly fruit and veg, and things like Whimzees which are chewy but don't require the same level of effort as the natural chewy dried animal pieces. No change to his skin either, but he probably isn't getting enough to be of any benefit (two tablespoons in a batch that last a week so very little daily).
