I first saw it on a closed facebook group I am on.
My take on it is no one knows how the dog ended up in the water, it jumped in, freak wave washed it in, slipped its lead....
Point is your dog is getting bashed about in a washing machine of waves probably disorientated and scared and you can see it is struggling to come back to shore. What are you going to do, watch your dog and hope it does not drown, call emergency services and wait hoping your dog does not drown or do something! Though you know it is wrong to go in wouldn't instinct drive you to at least consider doing exactly what this lady did!
I can not criticize what she did. You might know that you should not go into rough seas but if I was in that position I could well do the same!
As far as I am aware both dog and owner were unharmed. They were very lucky and outcome could have been very different!

I agree with this, it's easy for us to sit back and say oh id never do that but like you say instinct would kick in and you would try to save the dog if it was your own. Dogs are stronger swimmers than us however that wouldn't do them much good in the strong currents of the sea. I honestly don't know what id do in this situation. I can't swim to save my life however I would do what I can to save Samson. Glad both dog and owner are ok
