Took Moo to Obedience today but she was totally switched off again. Think it’s time we call it a day. I’d love to do one more competition/Show with her though, some tricks or something that she can do and will enjoy to end on a high. Just trying to think of something! Then she can go into her retirement job of being a therapy dog. So proud of her.
The other day I emailed a guy in the states who trains dogs for film and tv, asking for some tips etc as that’s what I’d love to do. (Probably won’t ever be possible, but I can dream!) He replied today telling me to give him a call and he’ll get back to me. I’d love to but also don’t want to as whatever he says probably isn’t going to be possible for one reason or another. I don’t want to get my hopes up! So do I call, or do I let it go...?
I decided to go for Ruffwear for Rumple! I really love it and it works a treat! Tempted to get Millie one even though she doesn't need it just because I like it so much! Its comfortable and the front clip works really well too. Thank you!
PS: I've since gone and bought him a new blue collar to match!
Had a good day today! Spent most of it with Millie!
This morning I took Millie for a Pets as Therapy assessment, which she passed! So once my references have been checked she'll be a qualified PAT Dog! So proud of her!
This afternoon we went to Sussex Uni to take part in a study. It was interesting and good fun. Just involved simple training with Millie, which she enjoyed too! We were done in half the expected time because she got it so quickly!
I'll have to spend tomorrow catching up on jobs now though!
Millie had another massage session this evening. Claire made her lay down, and once she settled, she actually stayed there so she was able to do a full massage. Found another few sore places, which she worked on. She’s been so much better since the last one, not limping much and hardly any metacam, so I’m sure this will help her even more. I’m going to start Obedience with her again next week and see how she goes. Also went amd saw saw a new Dog AID client this morning, who was lovely, as was her little dog. So the day wasn’t all bad.
it turned bad this afternoon though. My dad said for my birthday that he’d take me to Thorpe Park. I’m not really bothered about going but quite like it, and he didn’t give me anything else! I haven’t taken him up on it for the last 2 years because of my mum. A couple of weeks ago, my grandad asked me about it and I told him I hadn’t arranged anything. He said I should and that they’d look after things here. Coincidentally, a few days later I had a text from my dad, saying he could do a Wednesday or a Friday. I knew Mum has driving on a Friday but Wednesday was usually free. I asked my grandad if this date would be ok and if he’d take Millie out. He said it was absolutely fine and that he’d take Rumple too. I told my mum and she said she has a group in the morning. I honestly forgot! She also said she had physio, which hadn’t even been booked for then at the time! Now my grandparents are fuming with me for arranging to go out when I knew something was on. They said I should cancel it, but I don’t know how as I can’t tell him the real reason! Also not happy about me leaving Rumple, so I’ll just have to leave him here with his muzzle on while my mum goes our and shut him in the garden when the physio comes until Emily’s back to take him for a walk. Not only do I not know what to do with him, I’m actually really hurt by my grandparents again. I know what they said to me, and now they’re denying it. They tell me to go out more, and one day I arrange to, they tell me I should stay at home! They outright said it, like I’m not always here! Also told ,e to arrange something with my dad, and she my sister stuck up for me this evening, said he’s the last person in the world they want me to go out with! They’re going away for a few days on Friday, are they not going to go then because my mum has a driving lesson?! Of course they’ll go, which is fine, but what’s the difference? I dont know what to do for the best, apart from just accept that I’ll always be wrong. But I’m not that thick skinned, it’s really starting to get to me now. I’ll have to go and cuddle Millie again...
That’s great, thanks all! If never really used harnesses, so not sure where to start! Sounds like the Ruffware ones are really good. I’ll look into all the ones suggested though, see what might be best for the demon! Thank you!
Has anyone has any experience with front clip harness and can recommend any? I’m looking for Rumple. He’s started losing fur around his neck, I think it’s from we’re he pulls when he sees something and also he has a mad 5 minutes sometimes when we’re out and he’ll charge up and down on the end of his lead! He walks beautifully the rest of the time but because of that I’d like to try a harness with him. My only issue is that he’s a very strong dog, and reactive, so if I have to yank him away from something, or if he lunges, I feel like I’ll have less control (kidding myself I have any now! ) with a harness. I thought if I had one with a front clip I could put pressure on that if necessary. I’ve looked in some of the pet shops without success.

caz2golden: Sorry not on much my PC is sending me around the bend every time I use mouse it double clicks when I only single clicked! Part of me is hoping it is a windows issue that will get updated rather than just PC getting old and broken!

alfiemummy: It's most likely your mouse that needs replacing Caz - that's happened to me twice now and both times it's been fixed by getting a new mouse

tonib: Sounds like it was a good job we didn't have Roman as a kitten then. He's never misbehaved like that, only his first Xmas with us when he half-inched the stuffing! - I hope that's not famous last words!

tonib: Lexie is another matter but usually not breakables - except potentially of herself when she fell behind the large display cabinet/sideboard on being left alone for the 1st time in our dining room aged 2.5 years!!!

tonib: She jumped on top (via the table I believe) & managed to fall between it & the wall & appeared to be suspended by her head part way down (the gap narrowed!) I had to get a burly neighbour in to help move it, quickly moving weight/breakables as pos. 1st

tonib: She was fine but got checked by vet just in case! That was a heart stopping time, especially her cries!

lotsofcats: I can remember when that happened with Lexi.
