Thanks all, hopefully it will make her more comfortable. She was limping a bit more last night, but she said to expect that, so will see how she goes today.
Yes orpheous87, I had no idea she had any problems with her back or neck! I was so surprised it was her back she was reluctant to have done, not her hips. Hope it continues to help Ellie too. I think Millie might be a bit better next time now she knows what’s going on.
cazypops it’s something I’ve done myself with Millie. The vet was a bit sceptic when I mentioned it, but she was happy to sign the referral form. I wanted to give it a go because I know orpheous87 said it was very good and a few others have said the same. I also got talking to the people at Crufts about it so thought it was worth a shot. I’m not claiming on insurance for it, don’t know if I could really, never thought about it!
Millie had her massage. The therapist said her back right leg is very stiff, and that she’s got a strain on her right hip. When she was giving her the massage though, Millie was fine having her hips done, but it was mainly her back that was giving her lots of pain, and a bit in her neck. I didn’t realise there was so much going on, poor girl. Millie was very good, although she refused to lay on her side so she couldn’t do everything! Knowing how stubborn she is and what a fidget she is, I thought she did well. She even relaxed at one point, then remembered she was meant to be resisting so sat up again! The therapist thought it would help her, so I’ve booked her in again for next week. For the first time in a long long time, she went to the car and jumped straight in herself. She wasn’t meant to, but she’d done it before I could lift her! Either way, I think she’s going to have to retire soon, I don’t want to make her pain worse. Will see how she goes.
Take back what I said about Millie being much better. She’s not walking too badly but I took her training tonight and she was all over the place. She didn’t do anything, which is a sure sign she’s in pain. Never thought I’d say it,but Rumple was actually better! They were impressed with how he’d improved from last week
Thanks boxerluver30, she’s quite a bit better now, but still not right. Her massage is tomorrow, so we’ll see what she says.
What a fright you had with Samson! It’s so horrible when they do that!
I havent been watching BGT, or anything else! Not had time, and when I have had half hour I’ve been trying to do some training with the dogs. Been a bit stupid really, entered loads of shows and booked onto dog training courses, I know I probably won’t be able to go to most of them!
Thank you spider and lotsofcats. I feel a bit better today fortunately. Only quiet place is to sit in the car for a bit, which I must admit to doing sometimes! Millie’s still bad today. She’s on Yumove, Joint Aid, turmeric paste and metacam when she needs it. I’ve just got some more metacam from the vet so will make sure she’s having the full amount. I may need to give it to her more often now. I’ve also just got permission from the vet to give massage a go with her. There can’t be any harm in trying. Of course, Rumple shredded the form before I’d had chance to scan it back to the massage person, so I had to stick it back together as best as I could! He’s been quite well behaved today actually, he’s knackered from yesterday!!
Poor Millie’s really been struggling with her arthritis the last few days. This morning was the first time she’s ever lagged behind on a walk. I hate seeing her like it, knowing she can’t do what she’d like to do/what I’d like to do with her. She wants to do training to start with, but the little bit I did do with her she just can’t focus and then sits back and let’s me get on with Rumple, which isn’t like her. Wish I could wind back the clock a few years. Then I feel bad for taking it out on Rumple. He’s not Millie, and never will be. I know that and I love him for what he is, but I still get cross with him when he doesn’t act like her! I took him training tonight instead to try and rest Millie a bit, he was terrible! He’s forever proving my point that I can’t train dogs, Millie’s just really smart!!
Also been getting it I’m the neck a bit from my grandparents the last couple of days. And a load of other things and as a result of everything combined I think I’ve only just managed to shift the awful headache I’ve had all day!
Ill just have to carry carry on drinking lots of coffee and eating chocolate to drown my sorrows!!
I’ve got some Le Chameau wellies that my auntie got me, I love them! I normally hate wellies, but these are warm and really comfortable. They’re long but I do still drive in them. Can’t really recommend anything else, as I normally don’t like them!
As for the seatbelt... just under £300! Eeek! Rumple really is going to have to starve now! Getting it done tomorrow, I hate not having a car!
£300! That is a lot but, like you say, it's horrible not having a car. Have you forgiven Rumple yet?
Yes, he’s forgiven!
It it was meant to be done yesterday. I got a phone call yesterday afternoon, VW had sent the seatbelt for the passenger side, not the driver side! They fitted it without thinking, and then realised it still wouldn’t pass the MOT! So I didn’t get my car until today, but I got 2 new seatbelts for the price of 1!
Yep! Told him the money I have to spend on that will be what I’d normally spend on his food, see how he likes that!
